Devi is a treat to watch during the lockdown with your family members. It’s a
great tribute to Shakuntala Devi for her awe-striking abilities to perform
complex mathematical calculations quickly.

Devi the film is complicated. That it has been made at all is important. That
it is often amusing bodes well for an industry that still tends to hold the
view that films revolving around women must perforce be weepies. That it is
troubling despite its feminist goals is a matter of introspection for all of
us.

But ultimately ‘Shakuntala Devi’ is a joy to watch simply to soak in the fascinating life and times of the maths whiz - a human computer faster than an actual computer, the free-spirit, who was all that and so much more! Vidya Kasam, don’t give this one a miss.

SHAKUNTALA DEVI is a rare biopic that doesn’t do so and highlights her flaws as well. On the flipside, the narrative is complicated. There’s a lot of back-and-forth happening as the film jumps across timelines.
