All in all, Nani’s 25th film lacks uniqueness. It is a regular story of revenge. The title “V” stands for Nani’s name in the film but it is about vengeance.

On the whole, V is a typical revenge drama that does not live up to the hype. It is a film with a routine cat and mouse set up but the two stunning heroes make things quite interesting for the audience. Nani’s surprising new avatar, Sudheer Babu’s sincere act, and the first half are major assets. But the second half becomes slow with dull narration and a silly ending. Barring this, V is a perfect OTT release that can be only given a shot for its star presence and stylish taking. The only thing you need to do is to lower your expectations while watching the film.

Nani's 25th film V is a watchable thriller that could have worked well with better twists and surprises.

Even though there is a promising cast, even that is not used. The first half gives us an uncomfortable feeling but there is a bit of hope for better things to come in the second. But what happens there is even forgettable.

Nani has been picking good scripts lately, but V has nothing new on any front. He is presented like a typical action hero, though. He did his best despite the shortcomings. OTT release is like a blessing in disguise for V as it doesn’t have enough goods to become a winner at the box office.

Fahadh Faasil, as always, derives strength and thrives on his emphasis on the exactitude of expression. Neither does Roshan Mathew miss a beat as he goes from being a smitten young man to becoming a victim of circumstances partly of his own making but wholly beyond his control. Darshana Rajendran, playing a role of pivotal significance, delivers a moving portrayal of a girl of many shades.

Producers Fahad Faasil and Nazriya Nazim and director Mahesh Narayanan pick up a story with disturbingly familiar outlines and impart it with fresh urgency and impact, making each frame of the 1 hour 38 minutes run time count.

C U Soon is a great example of making innovative content, utilising technology and fine storytelling, at a time when budgetary constraints and physical restrictions are forcing filmmakers to think out-of-the-box. For Mollywood’s first film that was made especially for an OTT release and experience, the film sets the bar high.

C U Soon is not to be watched lazily. There are multiple windows open on screen throughout and the activity is constant. For instance, a character might be on a video call with one person while typing messages to another and folders lie scattered in the background – this means the viewer’s senses must be on red alert every moment.

With a run time of around 95 minutes, ‘C U Soon’ is tightly packed and neatly presented without logical flaws. The fact that the entire movie was shot during the lockdown is astonishing and is only going to pave the way for more such creative artists coming forward and making brilliant on-paper scripts, a reality.

    #OneWordReview...

    #Sadak2: UNBEARABLE.

    Rating: Medium star

Just cannot be compared to its first part... Lacklustre plot... Lethargic and lifeless screenwriting... Music doesn’t work either... Terrible waste of the brand [#Sadak] and talent associated with this film. #Sadak2Review

It’s hard to believe that this comes from Mahesh Bhatt’s baton, who has given us such classics as Arth, Naam, and the 1999 Zakhm, which spoke so eloquently and emotively to the growing rift between religions, and people. That was a landmark film. In his best work, Bhatt had the ability to catch the flavour of the moment and translate that into smart mainstream fare, and it was a wrench when he decided to stop directing.

In a nutshell, ‘Sadak 2’, for everyone involved with this project, should have been a ‘road not taken’. And for those who are planning on watching this purely for sentimental reasons, be forewarned: This Sadak leads nowhere; turn back. Jai Guru ji!

All said and done, walk-in with little expectations, and you might not be as disappointed as I am. Good performances, poor execution drop the film at what its rightly called – Sadak.

Jay I Patel's cinematography is quite good and captures the locales well. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is theatrical. Amit Ray and Subrata Chakraborty's production design and Priyanka Bhatt's costumes are fine. Sandeep Kurup's editing is nothing special.

On the whole, SADAK 2 is confusing, depressing and a dull fare.
